Restoration Prayer Guide
Over the past few months, we have been talking about Global Involvement and our desire to live on mission for the sake of the kingdom. If we have been redeemed and restored through the gospel of Jesus Christ, than we are called to be on mission. The question is not, "Are you called to missions?" The question is, "How will you participate in the mission of God?" No matter position, status, or education, you are called by God to make disciples according to the Word of God.
What keeps us from participating in the mission of God? We often don't see people. We physically see them, yes, but we often look right through their humanity treating them as a commodity, inconvenience, or an obstacle. It's so easy to run past people dismissing the fact that they are made in the image of God. The guy who takes your order at Starbucks has a real story of brokenness just like you. If we're not careful, we live our lives running from Point A to Point B missing opportunities to step into that brokenness with the hope of the gospel.
Slowing down to see people does not come naturally to us. We must pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help us see, feel, speak, and act. So for the month of July, these 4 areas will inform the way we pray collectively on Sundays and individually throughout the week.
Here are the ways we'll be praying:
Week 1: Open my eyes to see the people that are all around me.
Week 2: Burden my heart to feel the weight of their reality.
Week 3: Prepare my mouth to speak grace and truth and love into their lives.
Week 4: Use my hands and the resources you’ve given me to bless my neighbor.
Each week will have a certain way to pray for each day. For example, the first day of the first week (this Sunday), we'll be praying that God will help us to see our neighbors and their need for the gospel. Each Saturday night for the next 4 weeks, a new blog will be posted leading us to pray for that week. The prayer guide can also be seen in the bulletin.
Our vision as Restoration Church is to participate in the restoration of all things. We do this by engaging the broken with the love of God and making disciples according to His Word. We can't do that alone, though. We must pray for the Holy Spirit to work as we live in obedience to what he has called us to do. Well also need each other as we live life face-to-face and shoulder-to-shoulder for the sake of the kingdom. We hope you will join us as we participate in the global mission of God!
