For the next couple of weeks, we are praying together that the Holy Spirit would open our eyes to see people, feel the weight of their reality, and give us boldness to step into their lives with the hope of the gospel. Before we engage people with the gospel, we want to start on our knees asking God to draw people to Himself.
The hope is that these specific prayers will lead us in dependence upon God in prayer consistently and move us to engage people boldly. Hopefully, you can use these prayers as a springboard to lead you into intentional times of prayer. Here’s how we want to you to pray for the next couple of weeks as we pursue our vision of 1,000 gospel conversations and 21 unengaged spaces by 2021:
Thursday, April 18:
"Lord, we confess that we are selfish and often care more about our own comfort than about the souls of those who have not heard or accepted the gospel. Help me to be bold in reaching out to those you have placed in my life."
Saturday, April 20:
"Jesus, thank you for leaving behind the comforts of Heaven and living a life of complete selflessness on our behalf, though we did nothing to deserve it. Thank you that my value is anchored in Christ, regardless of what others think of me."
Monday, April 22:
"Lord, we confess that we are quick to rely on our own wisdom, knowledge and efforts. We fail to depend on you to guide our decisions. Thank you for the gracious gift of your Spirit through whom you guide us into all wisdom. Help me walk in step with the Spirit and depend on you. Show me how you want me to help broken people become passionate followers of you."
Wednesday, April 24:
"Lord, because my identity is secure in Christ, and no one is beyond your reach, help me to be bold in asking spiritual questions, listening, and sharing the gospel with those you have placed in my life."
Friday, April 26:
"Lord, we confess that we are short-sighted. We run through our days without really seeing people around us. Lord, open my eyes to see people around me the way you do. Show me the people and areas around me that are unreached and need the gospel."
Saturday, April 27:
"Jesus, thank you for pouring yourself out on our behalf. When we were consumed with love of self, you loved us to the point of death. Thank you for the forgiveness you offer us through your sacrificial love. Lord, as I revel in this great love, let it compel me to love others. Show me how you want me to sacrificially love others."
